TRILBY MULTIMEDIA CELEBRATES HIGHLY COMMENDED RECOGNITION
AT ICT EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2009

Birmingham-based Trilby Multimedia Ltd has beaten stiff competition to be highly commended in the Best Innovative Service category of the prestigious ICT Excellence Awards 2009.

The successful and growing company, which currently employs 7 people, was recognised for its Groopa Creative Collaboration tool.  Groopa is an online system enabling students to work in groups on creative projects as well as organising their own learning. Groopa combines ‘social networking’ tools with personal file storage, for members to compare videos, audios and images, and an ePortfolio to show the best of their work.

Trilby Multimedia is focused on understanding how computers can break down barriers of learning and lead people to a new understanding of their abilities. The judges were impressed by Groopa’s ability to enable schools and colleges to help students develop 21st century Skills as well as its ability to promote teamwork and collaboration.

Tony Stanley, Creative Director, Trilby Multimedia, comments: “We’re very pleased to have been highly commended as it provides recognition for our efforts to put technology into use for the common good.”

"The recognition from the ICT Cluster will be really helpful in supporting our marketing campaign, and raising our profile, especially at the BETT show, the world's largest education technology exhibition."

Mike Musson, ICT Cluster Manager, added: “This year we've seen the highest standard of award entries yet and competition has been incredibly tough. The ongoing judging process has been rigorous and the panel faced a major challenge deciding the final winners. It's fantastic to see the quality and diversity of technology companies the West Midlands region has to offer.”

The ICT Cluster Excellence Awards were presented at the evening Awards event following the Annual ICT Cluster Conference held at the National Motorcycle Museum on 10 November 2009.
